Report

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the Board of Supervisors:

Authorize the Deputy Purchasing Agent for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) or his designee to execute amendment No. 1 to the agreement with Disaster Kleenup Specialist Monterey Bay Inc. for damage restoration, mold remediation, and hazardous materials removal services, extending the agreement an additional one (1) year period (November 1, 2020 through October 31, 2021) for a revised full agreement term of November 1, 2015 through October 31, 2021, and adding $63,500 for a revised total agreement amount not to exceed $163,500.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Disaster Kleenup is used by Natividad for Hazardous waste haul off, segregation, transportation, and disposal, and fire/food mitigation in addition to rental of mitigation equipment such as Negative Air Machines and De-Humidifiers. Disaster Kleenup was used this past year for several flood mitigations, such as the flood in building 400 clinics that took place over a weekend that started on the 3rd floor and worked its way down to the 1st floor. They responded on the weekend and had the spaces back up in less than a week. Natividad has also used Disaster Kleenup for rentals on HEPA Filter Units, in the setup of our COVID Isolation Unit, we needed HEPA’s to create the Negative Pressure, and were unable to source units as none were in the market place at that time.

Having a company such as Disaster Kleenup as our Mitigation partner has given us an upper hand in that we have one company to call for mitigation, there fast response, and ability to deal with all hazards such as, hazardous waste, mold, haul off and disposal have been beneficial.
