Adopt a resolution to:

a. RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution to:

a. Confirm the appointment of Lucero Robles, the Deputy Director of Behavioral Health, Access and Substance Use Disorder (SUD), as Acting Bureau Chief/Director of Behavioral Health for the County Health Department, the term of which appointment shall be limited to a twelve month period from the date of approval of the appointment by the State of California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS); and

b. Authorize the Chair of the Board of Supervisors to execute a letter to State of California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) announcing the appointment of Mrs. Robles as Acting Director of Behavioral Health.

 

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

The Behavioral Health Bureau is one of seven bureaus of the Monterey County Health Department.

The Director of Behavioral Health serves as the Behavioral Health Bureau Chief and reports directly to the Director of Health. The County of Monterey recently opened a recruitment to fill the current vacancy in the position of the Director of Behavioral Health.

 

Appointment of an Acting Director of Behavioral Health is essential during the pendency of the recruitment. A key assignment of the Acting Director of Behavioral Health Director will be to oversee the Health Department’s Behavioral Health processes and activities until the vacancy in the position of the Director of Behavioral Health is permanently filled.

 

Pursuant to Section 620.1 of Title 9 of the California Code of Regulations, a county may select an Acting Director of Local Mental Health Services with appointment limited to a 12-month period subject to the approval of the Director of the state Department of Mental Health.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

The Office of the County Counsel has reviewed report and concurs with recommendation.

 

FINANCING:

No additional County funds are associated with this interim assignment.
