Authorize the Monterey County Sheriff or his designee to sign a Memorandum of Understanding and all related documentation on behalf of the County for the Medication Assisted Treatment Expansion Project 2.0 with the Health Management Associates, Inc., in the amount of $75,000.

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:

 

Authorize the Monterey County Sheriff or his designee to sign a Memorandum of Understanding and all related documentation on behalf of the County for the Medication Assisted Treatment Expansion Project 2.0 with the Health Management Associates, Inc., in the amount of $75,000.00.

 

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office has the opportunity to obtain direct grant funds under the Expanding Access to Medication for Addiction Treatment (MAT) in County Criminal Justice Setting for the State Opioid Response.   These funds are intended to assist in implementing specific and approved strategies to expand access to MAT of opioid addiction, screening and assessments in County Jails.  This Sheriff’s Office is a supportive partner in trying to provide incarcerated inmates with services they need within the County Jail.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

County Counsel and the Auditor Controller have reviewed.

 

FINANCING:

There will be no new net county cost to the County General Fund.
