RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:

a.                     Consider appointment of Supervisor Wendy Root Askew to serve on the Board of Supervisors Legislative Committee;

b.                     Consider appointment of Supervisor Wendy Root Askew to serve as alternate on the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Board of Directors; and,

c.                     Consider appointment of Supervisor Mary Adams to serve on the 3CE (Central Coast Community Energy) - Policy Board.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

At the beginning of each calendar year, the Chair of the Board of Supervisors proposes to the full Board the appointment of Board members to serve on a variety of standing and ad hoc committees of the Board and also to a number of external boards, committees, commissions and other governmental entities which require representation of the County by a member of the Board of Supervisors. These appointments generally remain for the calendar year unless and until modified by subsequent action by the Board.

The appointments for calendar year 2021 were approved by the Board on January 12, 2021. Based on input from their constituencies and the needs of their districts, Chair Askew and Supervisor Adams propose exchanging appointments for the following three committees and boards:

                     Legislative Committee - replace Supervisor Adams with Supervisor Askew;

                     CSAC Board of Directors - replace Supervisor Adams as alternate with Supervisor Askew as alternate;

                     3CE (Central Coast Community Energy) - Policy Board - replace Supervisor Askew with Supervisor Adams.

These changes will go into effect immediately upon Board approval.
