RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors approve and authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Officer or his designee to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement with Sportscar Vintage Racing Association, for the Pro Trans Am and Vintage Festival events at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, cancelling the 2020 event and updating new terms and conditions for the 2021 event.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
This request supports an amendment to the agreement with Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) passed and adopted on November 6, 2018 to conduct a Pro Trans Am and Vintage Festival event at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for the years 20219-2022.

The 2020 event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent State and County mandates to not allow spectators. The 2021 Pro Trans Am and Vintage Festival at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is scheduled to be held on April 29 through May 2, 2021, and SVRA has agreed to hold the event without ticket sales or spectators due to the current restrictions remaining in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event fee will remain per the original Agreement and the $50,000 deposit paid by SVRA to County for the cancelled 2020 event is to be credited to the 2021 event. If the track remains open and SVRA cancels the 2021 event, SVRA will be responsible to pay County the full Event Fee due.

Due to the 2021 event being a non-spectator event, certain County obligations will not be required, as specified in the Amendment No. 1.
