It is recommended the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Interim Natividad Chief Executive Officer to execute a Lease Agreement with Southern Monterey County Memorial Hospital, a California nonprofit public benefit corporation doing business as Mee Memorial Healthcare System (“Mee Memorial”), for 537.5 square feet of medical office space for the operation of an obstetrics and gynecology clinic within a medical office building owned by Mee Memorial and located at 467 El Camino Real, Greenfield, California, 93927, for the period July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022 at the monthly rate of $1,052.88 for leasing the space and specified medical equipment one day a week.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The proposed lease agreement is between Southern Monterey County Memorial Hospital, a California nonprofit public benefit corporation doing business as Mee Memorial Healthcare System (“Mee Memorial”) and the County of Monterey on behalf of Natividad Medical Center. The lease is for 537.5 square feet of medical office space within a medical office building owned by Mee Memorial located at 467 El Camino Real, Greenfield, California, 93927. The lease also includes use of two pieces of medical equipment (an ultrasound machine and a colposcopy machine).
Natividad Medical Center intends to operate an obstetrics and gynecology clinic from the space one day per week. The space is being leased to the County at a rate of $2.65 per square foot. The total monthly rent for leasing the space and medical equipment one day per week is $1,052.88. The term of the lease is one year, commencing on July 1, 2021.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
County Counsel has reviewed and approved this Agreement as to legal form and risk provisions. The Auditor-Controller has reviewed and approved this Agreement as to fiscal provisions. This Agreement has not been reviewed by the Natividad Finance Committee or the Natividad Board of Trustees.
FINANCING:
The cost for this agreement is $12,365 and is included in the Fiscal Year 2021-2022 Recommended Budget.
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:
The Agreement permits Natividad to provide gynecology and obstetrics services to its patients. The clinic space to be leased are in an area of the County that is underserved by medical providers. Natividad patients who live in the Greenfield area will not have to drive to Natividad for the position of these services.
