RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Receive the 2020 annual Monterey County Crop and Livestock Report from the Agricultural Commissioner.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Agricultural Commissioner produces an annual Crop and Livestock Report pursuant to Sections 2272 and 2279 of the California Food and Agricultural Code. The Crop and Livestock Report states the condition, acreage, production, and value of the unprocessed agricultural commodities produced in the County. The 2020 Crop and Livestock Report highlights the resilience of the agricultural industry during both the worldwide pandemic caused by COVID-19 and 2020 wildfires.

FINANCING:
Costs associated with the production of this report are included in the FY 2020-21 budget.
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:
Agriculture is the largest contributor to the County’s economy. This report tabulates the annual gross production value of agricultural products at the farm gate.
