RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and Authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Officer or Contracts/Purchasing Supervisor to sign a three (3) year non-standard agreement with Vigilant Solutions, LLC, for six license plate recognition (LPR) software licenses for the Sheriff's Office in the amount of $13,500, effective upon signature.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Monterey County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) requests approval of non-standard agreement with Vigilant Solutions.
MCSO has the ability to see license plate data (ie. stolen cars, child abductions, etc.) that has been uploaded to a nationwide database via CLEAR, however, MCSO does not have the ability to upload information into the database. To upload information into the database requires a software license. Vigilant Solutions provides the software license required to give MCSO the ability to upload information into the database, and thereby, fully participate in the fight against crime. This contract with Vigilant Solutions is a subscription contract which provides licenses for this very purpose. MCSO is purchasing six (6) licenses at a rate of $750.00 each for a total of $4,500.00 per year for three (3) years $13,500.00.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
County Counsel and Auditor-Controller have reviewed.
FINANCING:
Funding for the subscription service is included in the Sheriff's Office adopted budget for FY 2021-22. There is no additional cost to the County General fund associated with this recommendation.
