SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

The agreement with UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital San Francisco will provide patient specific education to Nursing staff at Natividad Medical Center.  This includes access to all UCSF policies and procedures and the ability for staff to attend educational offerings of our choice to obtain Nursing Continuing education units (CEU’s). Continuing education is important to ensure best practices and the safest patient care. The contract includes a total of 16 hours of nursing in-services/education and topics that are selected by Women & Children’s Services leaders based on educational needs each year. The Clinical Nurse Specialist for NICU/Peds and the Perinatal Educator confer annually with UCSF’s Pediatric outreach team to choose topics and schedule dates for classes. Class topics and dates are then shared with staff at Natividad so they can attend these classes, to obtain CEU’s and valuable information about patient care/conditions.

The Office of County Counsel has reviewed and approved this amendment No. 1 as to form, and the Auditor-Controller has reviewed and approved as to payment provisions. The amendment No. 1 has not been reviewed by NMC’s Finance Committee and by its Board of Trustees.

The cost for this amendment No. 1 is $38,313 of which $5,000 is included in the Fiscal Year 2021-22 Adopted Budget. Amounts for remaining years of the agreement will be included in those budgets as appropriate.
