RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the Board of Supervisors:

 

a. Authorize the Interim Chief Executive Officer for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) or his designee to execute amendment No. 1 to the agreement with Employnet, Inc. for temporary employment services, extending the agreement an additional three (3) month period (September 26, 2022 through December 26, 2022) for a revised full agreement term of September 27, 2021 through December 26, 2022, and adding $150,000 for a revised total agreement amount not to exceed $250,000.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

 

Natividad Medical Center utilizes temporary staffing agencies to staff hard to fill positions in order to meet the hospitals staffing needs to ensure high quality patient care. Employnet, Inc. provides Natividad with clerical and environmental and food services staff.

 

Over the past year, the need for additional staff has increased due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which increased Natividad Medical Center daily census significantly resulting in the need for additional staff. Natividad would like to add an additional $150,000 to continue to cover service needs at Natividad due to the high demand for staff.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

 

The Office of County Counsel has reviewed and approved this amendment No. 1 as to form, and the Auditor-Controller has reviewed and approved as to payment provisions. The amendment No. 1 has also been reviewed and approved by NMC’s Finance Committee and by its Board of Trustees on December 9, 2021.

 

FINANCING:

 

The cost for this amendment No. 1 is $150,000 of which $75,000 is included in the Fiscal Year 2021-22 Adopted Budget. Amounts for remaining years of the agreement will be included in those budgets as appropriate.

 

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:

 

This agreement greatly improves the responsiveness to critical staffing needs at NMC. This agreement ensures that requests for qualified nurses and other clinical staff at NMC are met in a timely manner.  This enables NMC to provide high quality patient care thereby improving the health and quality of life for patients and their families.
