RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Director of Health or the Assistant Director of Health to sign Amendment No. 3 to Agreement No. A-15418, with the Community Foundation for Monterey County (CFMC), for the Virus Integrated Distribution of Aid Project (VIDA) Project, formerly known as the Community Outreach and Education Pilot Project (Pilot Project), adding 9 months, for a revised full term of January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2022 and increasing the amount by $1,570,012 for a total agreement, not to exceed $6,559,663.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Virus Integration Distribution of Aid (VIDA) project is implemented by Monterey County Health Department in partnership with the Community Foundation of Monterey County to develop a community co-created approach using Community Health Workers to support and expand local efforts to reduce the number and disproportionality of COVID-19 case, hospitalizations and mortality rates in the county. The VIDA project was initially funded from January 1 - June 30, 2021. Utilizing Community Health Workers (CHW) employed by the CBOs, the project aims to provide COVID-19 health and safety information that is accurate, accessible, and culturally and linguistically appropriate, have CHWs act as health system navigators for the community, and provide COVID-19 testing and vaccination resources and services in order to reduce COVID-19 impacts on communities in t...
