SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Natividad must arrange for care and treatment of patients who present to the emergency department and hospitalized patients in need of medical care in the specialty of gastroenterology.  Natividad wishes to amend this Agreement with Monterey Bay GI Consultants so that its board certified gastroenterologists can continue to provide gastroenterology call coverage in the emergency department along with other panel members to ensure sufficient coverage of the service twenty-four hours per day, seven  days a week, including all holidays.

The group is paid a daily rate for call coverage services according to the terms of the Agreement.  The amount of services provided may increase due to availability and need for coverage, but the rate of pay will remain the same for the term of the Agreement.  Natividad has obtained an independent opinion of fair market value supporting the payment terms of this Agreement.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

County Counsel has reviewed and approved this Amendment as to legal form.  Auditor-Controller has reviewed and approved this Amendment as to fiscal provisions.  The Amendment also been reviewed and approved by Natividad’s Finance Committee and Board of Trustees.
