Report
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Receive an update regarding District Attorney Family Justice Center.

SUMMARY:
The District Attorney's Office met with the City of Salinas and were informed that the City did not have an available location or resources to partner on a Family Justice Center (FJC).

DISCUSSION:
The District Attorney's Office determined that their King City Office would be available to be developed into the first FJC for Monterey County. The District Attorney's Office then secured OES funding from the Emerging Family Justice Center Grant on March 30, 2022. Funding awarded for this grant is $220,000.00. The performance period is April 1, 2022, through March 31, 2024. The District Attorney retained Alliance for Hope for the following services: consulting, planning and technical assistance to successfully build out the South Monterey County Family Justice Center.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
Currently the following South County Agencies have agreed to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in working together to provide services to victims of domestic violence, child abuse, human trafficking, and elder abuse: Department of Social Services, Lideres Campesinas, DSS Aging and Adult Services, DSS Behavioral Health, Harmony At Home, YWCA Monterey County, Monterey County Rape Crisis Center, Monterey County Sheriff's Office, Monterey County Superior Court, Self-Help Center, Mee Memorial Hospital, King City Police Department and Child Abuse Prevention Council.

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:
