Title: a. Authorize the Chief Information Officer or his designee to execute Amendment No. 1 to the non-standard agreement with CommScope Technologies, LLC dba Comsearch to continue Federal Communications Commission (FCC) license management services, increasing the contract by $13,650 for a total amount not to exceed $34,400, with an agreement term extended through October 31, 2025; and b. RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:

a. SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

The County of Monterey contract/service agreement with CommScope Technologies, LLC dba Comsearch (“Comsearch”) has two main functions: protecting the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) licensing that supports Monterey County microwave systems, and the land mobile radio and other wireless frequencies that operate within Monterey County.

 

These services are crucial to ensure uninterrupted service delivery to all 28 Monterey County public safety agencies who are members of the Next Generation Enterprise Network (NGEN) Radio System, as well as the enterprise infrastructure supporting network service delivery (Voice over IP, enterprise email, web applications, etc.) to all County employees.

 

The Chief Information Officer recommends the amendment to this agreement with Commsearch to continue providing these services.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

County Counsel has reviewed the non-standard Agreement with Commsearch.

 

FINANCING:

The funds have been included in the FY22-23 Approved Budget for the Information Technology Department, ITD 1930, Appropriations Unit INF002. Transactions relating to future fiscal years will be included in each respective Recommended Budget based upon the anticipated utilization of the services.

 

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:

This agreement supports the protection and long-term sustainability of the County’s wireless (microwave) backbone infrastructure which provides enterprise data and voice services to all Monterey County employees in addition to providing critical public safety services to 28 agencies throughout Monterey County.
