a. Approve and authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Officer or Contracts/Purchasing Supervisor to execute Amendment No. 2 to Standard Agreement No. A-14567 between the County of Monterey and A & B Fire Protection and Safety, Inc., for fire sprinkler suppression system services including annual inspections, testing, maintenance services and on-call repairs, to increase the not to exceed amount by $100,000, for a total not to exceed amount of $515,310; and
b. Authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Officer or Contracts/Purchasing Supervisor to execute Amendment No. 2 to Standard Agreement No. A-14567, subject to approval as to form by the Office of the County Counsel and approval as to fiscal provisions by the Auditor-Controller’s Office.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Officer or Contracts/Purchasing Supervisor to execute Amendment No. 2 to Standard Agreement No. A-14567 between the County of Monterey and A & B Fire Protection and Safety, Inc., for fire sprinkler suppression system services including annual inspections, testing, maintenance services and on-call repairs, to increase the not to exceed amount by $100,000, for a total not to exceed amount of $515,310; and
b. Authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Officer or Contracts/Purchasing Supervisor to execute Amendment No. 2 to Standard Agreement No. A-14567, subject to approval as to form by the Office of the County Counsel and approval as to fiscal provisions by the Auditor-Controller’s Office.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The County and A & B Fire Protection and Safety, Inc. (hereinafter “A & B Fire”) request an increase to the not to exceed amount by $100,000, for a total not to exceed amount of $515,310 for Agreement No. A-14567 to allow A & B Fire to continue to provide fire sprinkler suppression system services for the County. Maintaining fire sprinkler systems in good working order and performing all required inspections is critical to public and staff safety in County owned buildings and facilities. Under this Agreement, A & B Fire performs annual tests, prepares written inspection reports, provides on-call emergency service and repairs to suppression systems and other suppression system services as needed by the County.
The Agreement for fire sprinkler suppression system services was entered into on November 26, 2019 for a three-year term from December 2, 2019 to December 1, 2022. Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement was entered into on December 14, 2022, extending the term by one year, making the Agreement effective from December 2, 2019 through and including December 1, 2023.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Office of the County Counsel has reviewed and approved Amendment No. 2 as to form. The Auditor-Controller’s Office has reviewed proposed Amendment No. 2 as to fiscal provisions.
FINANCING:
There is no minimum guaranteed work under this Agreement. Funding for individual work orders is verified within the approved budget allocations prior to commencement of work.
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:
The Board’s approval of Amendment No. 2 will allow the County to continue to meet safety standards for County owned buildings and facilities. The recommended actions support the Board of Supervisor’s Strategic Initiatives for Infrastructure and Public Safety and will enable the safe operations of County owned buildings and facilities.
