RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Director of Health or Assistant Director of Health to execute Amendment No. 1 to Standard Agreement A-15204 with Kristin Lynn Dempsey for the provision of training and consultation services to increase the amount by $27,000 for a revised total Agreement amount of $177,000 for the same term July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2024.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Kristin Lynn Dempsey, Ed. D, LMFT, LPCC ("Dr. Dempsey"), has provided training to clinicians in several evidence-based therapy practices including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, and the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics. Dr. Dempsey also provides consultation to behavioral health systems seeking to improve their recovery-oriented, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed practices.

This Amendment No. 1 will allow Dr. Dempsey to continue providing introductory and advanced Motivational Interviewing ("MI") training and consultation to the Monterey County Health Department staff.

This work supports the Monterey County Health Department 2018-2022 strategic goal: 4. Engage the MCHD workforce and improve operational functions to meet current and developing population health needs. It also supports the following of the ten essential public health services, specifically: 8. Assure a competent public and personal health care workforce.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Office of the County Counsel reviewed and approved as to form. Auditor-Controller reviewed and approved as to financial terms.
