RECOMMENDATION/SUMMARY:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Library Director to execute a three-year Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") for the term of February 14, 2023 to February 13, 2026 between the Friends of the King City Library and the County of Monterey to partner with Monterey County Free Libraries (MCFL), and
b. Authorize the Library Director or Designee to execute up to three future amendments to the MOU that do not significantly alter the scope of work.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Friends of the King City Library and MCFL have had a long and productive partnership, resulting in many facets of community benefit.
MCFL has provided physical space inside and outside the King City Branch Library (402 Broadway Ave., King City, CA) to the Friends of the King City Library for activities including public programs, book sales, fundraisers, and meetings of the Friends of the King City Library.
The Friends of the King City Library have provided support for King City Branch Library through community outreach, donations of funds and equipment, and ongoing engagement with the King City community.
The purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is to clearly identify the roles and responsibilities of each party as they relate to the use of library space to conduct the activities directed by and involving the Friends of the King City Library.
