RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the Board of Supervisors:

Authorize the Chief Executive Officer for Natividad or his designee to execute renewal & amendment No. 3 to the agreement (A-14584) with EBSCO Industries, Inc. (EBSCO) for online database and journal subscriptions, extending the agreement an additional three (3) year period (January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2026) for a revised full agreement term of January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2026, and adding $383,206 for a revised total agreement amount not to exceed $956,359.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

EBSCO provides Natividad staff access to online medical database resources and published medical journals. These resources include the leading web-based clinical research tools utilized in hospital and clinic settings to obtain answers to clinical questions, including the latest evidence and clinical expertise to provide specific, practical recommendations for diagnosis and treatment at the point of care.

Approval of this recommended action will provide Natividad medical staff, residents, and nursing and ancillary hospital staff continued access to these valuable clinical resources along with our patient discharge instructions database incorporated in our electronic medical record system. Included in this Amendment is the functionality of EBSCO products, which will provide remote access to many of these resources.
