RECOMMENDATION/SUMMARY:
a. Approve and authorize the Library Director or Designee, to execute a (3) three-year Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") for the term of June 27, 2023 to June 26, 2026 with the Museum Foundation of Pacific Grove DBA Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History ("PGMNH") to partner with Monterey County on Behalf of the Monterey County Free Libraries ("MCFL"), and
b. Authorize the Library Director or Designee, to execute up to three (3) future annual amendments to the agreement that do not significantly alter the scope of work;
DISCUSSION:
The Monterey County Free Libraries (MCFL) offer a wide variety of services and programs that enrich the lives of the communities we serve. This partnership will allow programs and workshops from this local museum to be offered in County Library locations at not charge to the public. It will expand the options and offerings in library facilities, enabling community agencies to share local knowledge and resources and allowing all community members to try new things free of charge.
The Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History has a robust outreach and public education program. This MOU is intended to create an ongoing partnership, detail obligations and responsibilities for both agencies, and ensure appropriate liability coverage for these offerings.
