RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Authorize the County of Monterey Sheriff or designee to execute a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of King, a municipal corporation, organized and existing pursuant to the laws of the State of California, for the enforcement of services on Parcel 245-081-031-000, effective upon execution.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The County of Monterey Sheriff's Office (CMSO) is requesting authority to execute Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with the City of King, for the enforcement of services on Parcel 245-081-031-000.
Parcel 245-081-031-000 is located in the unincorporated area of the County of Monterey. CMSO is responsible for providing enforcement services to all unincorporated areas within the County.
The parcel is located in the riverbed that borders the City of King and is within the City's sphere of influence. The City of King plans to implement a clean-up program of the riverbed and surrounding area, has housing in place and other services for people who will be displaced during this clean-up.
This MOU would allow for the King City Police Department (KCPD) to take enforcement action in support of CMSO. KCPD is willing to take lead due to the housing project they are building at no cost to CMSO.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The County Counsel supports this MOU. The County Administrative Office and Auditor-Controller have reviewed.
FINANCING:
There is no impact to the General Fund contribution with this Action.
