RECOMMENDATION/SUMMARY:
Approve and authorize the Library Director to execute a three-year Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") for the term of March 12, 2024, to March 11, 2027 with the Parenting Connection of Monterey County to partner with Monterey County on behalf of the Monterey County Free Libraries, and

DISCUSSION:

To further the mission of bringing ideas, inspiration, information and enjoyment to Monterey County, the Monterey County Free Libraries (MCFL) partners with non-profits and other community organizations for programs and outreach via public library facilities. The Parenting Connection of Monterey County (PCMC) provides workshops and classes to provide community support for positive parenting and family wellness. This MOU will allow some of these programs to be presented free and open to the public within MCFL public library branches.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the MOU as to legal form. A copy of the MOU will be placed on file with Clerk of the Board.

FINANCING:

The MOU contains no financial provisions between the two agencies and will not impact the General Fund.

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:
Programs and workshops presented by local agencies and non-profits for free engages more of the community in learning and enrichment, enables agencies to reach communities throughout the County, and enables more members of the public to benefit.
