SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Monterey County Emergency Communications Department is a consolidated Public Safety Answering Point for 9-1-1 emergency and non-emergency calls as well as a radio dispatch facility serving 28 law enforcement, fire protection, and emergency medical response agencies throughout Monterey County.

Emergency call-taking and public safety dispatch relies on a wide array of advanced technologies employed by the Department and partnerships with technology companies is critical to the success of the Department's mission. This agreement will allow the Department to partner with Apple Inc. for testing of existing and new 9-1-1 related features such as Hybridized Emergency Location, Crash Detection, and Enhanced Emergency Data.

Accordingly, the Director of the Emergency Communications Department sees this non-standard Confidentiality Agreement as low-risk and recommends that the Board approve and authorize the execution.

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the Confidentiality Agreement as to form.

FINANCING:
There is no cost associated with the approval or use of the Confidentiality Agreement to the County.

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:
