SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
In FY 2022-2023, the Monterey County Sheriff's Office received the Officer Wellness and Mental Health Grant award of $196,583. The funds for this grant were received in advance and recorded as revenue in FY 2022-23, but funds were not spent that fiscal year. As part of the year end activities for FY2022-23, these revenues were closed to unassigned fund balance in the General Fund (BSA 001-3101) since the funds were not used that fiscal year.

This grant award is for officer wellness and mental health for sworn personnel only, as such, the MCSO is researching opportunities to expend the funds for the purpose authorized in FY2023-24.

The funds from this grant must be expended by December 1, 2025; whatever funds are not expended must be returned by December 31, 2025.

This report is to gain the support from the budget committee to accept the grant award and increase appropriations for the Sheriff's Office.
