b. Authorize transmittal of the approved status updates to the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court, County of Monterey, by March 26, 2024.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve status updates related to the 2022-23 Monterey County Civil Grand Jury reports, titled: "Public Guardian, The Final Helping Hand: A Mandate to Care", "Human Resources Help Wanted: A Speedier Way to Hire", and "Noise Ordinance: Sleepless in Monterey County".
b. Authorize transmittal of the approved status updates to the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court, County of Monterey, by March 26, 2024.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Several County departments received letters dated February 1, 2024 from the Monterey County Civil Grand Jury (CGJ) requesting a status update related to various proposed actions which were included in the County's response to the 2022-23 Civil Grand Jury report. The letters requested updates on the following:
1. Public Guardian, The Final Helping Hand: A Mandate to Care - Department of Social Services and Health Department
2. Human Resources Help Wanted: A Speedier Way to Hire - Civil Rights Office and Human Resources Department
3. Noise Ordinance: Sleepless in Monterey County - Housing and Community Development Department and Sheriff's Office
The draft responses prepared by the various departments are included as attachments to this report.
Further enclosed, are status updates from the Sheriff's Office related to the 2022-23 Monterey County Civil Grand Jury report titled "The Monterey County Coroner's Office: A Matter of Life and Death". Board approval is not required for the Sheriff's Office updates, as the department responds directly to the CGJ on requests.
