RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Authorize the Registrar of Voters to provide specified election services for the June 4, 2024, Hartnell Community College District, Trustee Area Six, Special Election.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Division 10 of the California Elections Code provides that a city or district may, by resolution, request that the Board of Supervisors authorize the Registrar of Voters to provide the jurisdiction with election services.
Resolution No. 23-24-100 was passed by the Monterey County Office of Education on February 7, 2024 giving notice of holding an election for the Hartnell Community College District on June 4, 2024 and requesting that the Registrar of Voters provide election services. A copy of the District's Resolution No. 23-24-100 is attached as Exhibit A.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Monterey County Office of Education adopted Resolution No. 23-24-100 requesting that the Registrar of Voters provide election services for the Hartnell Community College District, Trustee Area Six, June 4, 2024 Special Election. County Counsel has reviewed and approved the recommendations.
FINANCING:
California Elections Code Section 10002 mandates that all jurisdictions requesting election services from the County shall reimburse the County for the services performed. The Hartnell Community College District shall reimburse the County in full for the services performed. There will be no additional cost to the County General Fund associated with this recommendation.
