RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the Board of Supervisors;

a. Approve the Plans and Specifications for the Natividad Medical Center (NMC), Project #9600-50; Modular Buildings Tenant Improvement (TI), Bid #NMC -1009 for contractors to bid on construction; and
b. Approve the Public Works Department to advertise the "Notice to Contractors" in The Californian on July 1, and July 8, 2013.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

NMC worked with County Public Works Department Architectural Services Division to move Modular 5 from the Government Center to NMC's campus. Modular 5 moved to the north side of NMC's campus, situated on the M parking lot. The Project # 9600-50; Modular Buildings Tenant Improvement, includes improvements to Modular 5, Modular 840 and Modular 870 on the north side of NMC campus. The modular buildings will accommodate Information Technology, Interpretive Services, Human Resources Training, Nursing Education and the Records and Retention departments. These departments currently reside on the third floor Building 400. The departments must be displaced in advance of the construction of the new Family Medicine Clinic on the third floor of Building 400.

In April 2013, NMC contracted with Wald Ruhnke & Dost Architects from the Architectural Master Agreement (MYA700) to provide drawings and specifications for the Modular Buildings TI Project. NMC is currently working with Wald Ruhnke & Dost to finalize construction documents to be submitted to the County of Monterey Building Department for Construction Document Plan Review and obtain a building permit.
