RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors receive Report from Monterey County Sheriff’s Office on Board Referral 2020.21 - Review of Use of Force Polices, Recruitment and Training
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
This report is being presented in response to board referral 2020.21 - Review of Use of Force Policies, Recruitment and Training following the referral by Supervisor Alejo on June 9, 2020. This report will highlight the Use of Force policy and the access members of the community have to the policy. The training deputies receive to include handling persons with mental health issues, tactical communication, and other on-going training will be presented. A recent successful arrest of a barricaded, armed suspect with mental illness, by deputies will be highlighted.
