RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Officer or designee to sign the Ergonomics Services Amendment #4 with ErgoVera extending the time for performance to August 31, 2012 and increasing the compensation for services under the Agreement by $8,000.00 for a total amount of $108,000.00; and
b. Approve and authorize Risk Management to implement the attached Amendment #4 with ErgoVera.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The County of Monterey Ergonomics Process is vital to the prevention and management of work injuries at the County. The Ergonomics Process has been in place since June 2008 and has provided over 1000 ergonomic evaluations to date, reducing the risk of injury and illness of County employees. It is estimated that over the last three years, at least 570 workers’ compensation cases have been prevented through the County’s pro-active, preventive process saving the County an estimated $8.3 million in future workers’ compensation costs.

The Ergonomics Services contract began in June 2008 for $25,000.00 each year for the last four years. The proposed Amendment #4 serves to allow the continuation of ergonomic services within the County while providers are selected during the open RFP process. The RFP process and contract renewal is expected to be completed sometime in August 2012. An extension in time and value for the current service provider is requested until then.
