RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Officer or designee to sign the Ergonomics Services Amendment No. 2 with Ergovera and Humanscale extending the time for performance of each Contractor to March 31, 2020; and

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The County of Monterey Ergonomics Process is vital to the prevention and management of work
injuries at the County. The Ergonomics Process was fully implemented in 2009 and has provided over 3350 preventative ergonomic evaluations to date, reducing the risk of injury and illness of County employees. It is estimated that over the last ten years, at least 660 workers' compensation cases have been prevented through the County's pro-active, preventive process saving the County an estimated $14.3 million in future workers' compensation costs.

The original agreement for Ergonomics Services with Ergovera and Humanscale, each in the amount of $100,000.00 began September 1, 2017 and expires on August 31, 2018.

Amendment No. 1 to the original agreements of each Contractor extended the time for one year from September 1, 2018 through and including August 31, 2019 which increased the agreements by $80,000.00 each for a total amount not to exceed $180,000.00 each.

Amendment No. 2 to the original agreements will extend the time for an additional six (6) months with no increase in value for both Contractors.

We plan to initiate a new RFP and the proposed Amendment No. 2 will allow the continuation of
ergonomic services with our current providers through March of 2020. The RFP process and
