RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Officer to sign Amendment No. 2 to the Professional Services Agreement with TR and Associates, Inc. to extend the term of the Agreement to June 30, 2014, and increase the Agreement by $60,000 for credentialing and re-credentialing of health care provider and facility applications, for a revised total not to exceed $138,000.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Monterey County Health Department’s Clinic Services Bureau (Clinic Services) engages Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Licensed Clinical Social Workers (Healthcare Professionals) who provide medical services in Clinic Services’ seven (7) Federally Qualified Health Center Look-alike clinics.

Clinic Services must verify the qualifications of Healthcare Professionals before they can begin providing medical services in the clinics. Qualifications may include, but are not limited to, active licensures and certifications, education, trainings, work experience, and claims history. Once credentialing for a Healthcare Professional has been established, it must be monitored on a continuous basis to ensure that all documentation remains current and in good standing.

Clinic Services currently has over 100 Healthcare Professionals working in the clinics who need to be credentialed in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and County laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
