a. Ratify, amend and authorize the Contracts Purchasing Officer or his designee to execute a contract between Medics for Life, Incorporated and the County of Monterey starting on January 10, 2015 in the amount of $12,000 for Search and Rescue Emergency Medical Responder training; and
b. Authorize the Contracts Purchasing Officer or his designee to approve and execute up to three future amendments to this agreement where the total combined amount of all amendments do not exceed $38,000 (for a total not to exceed amount of $50,000) and do not significantly change the scope of the work.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended the Board of Supervisors:
a. Ratify, amend and authorize the Contracts Purchasing Officer or his designee to execute a contract between Medics for Life, Incorporated and the County of Monterey starting on January 10, 2015 in the amount of $12,000; and
b. SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Monterey County Search and Rescue unit undertakes wilderness searches for missing or injured hikers, swift water rescues due to flooding, rescues or recoveries resulting from vehicles driving over a cliff, performs body recoveries and provides mutual aid to other local law enforcement agencies, local fire departments, federal parks and forest service personnel.
The Monterey County Sheriff's Office secured the services of Medics for Life, Incorporated to provide emergency medical responder training and certification for members of its Search and Rescue team.
