RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Authorize the Deputy Purchasing Agent for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) to execute the Professional Services Agreement with Stephen J. Brabeck M.D. to provide cardiology services at NMC for an amount not to exceed $400,000 for the period September 1, 2015 to September 30, 2017; and
b. Authorize the Deputy Purchasing Agent for NMC to sign up to three (3) amendments to this Agreement where the total amendments do not extend the term by more than twelve (12) months, do not exceed 10% of the original contract amount and do not significantly change the scope of work.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
NMC currently contracts with three independent contractor physicians to provide 24/7 cardiology call coverage in the emergency department, daily outpatient cardiology clinic and clinical interpretation services to its cardiology patients. It requires at least two full-time physicians to cover the service. NMC would like to enter into an Agreement with Stephen J. Brabeck M.D. to provide cardiology services while one its existing cardiologists is on leave of absence. Dr. Brabeck will cover call and clinic days from time to time as needed which may increase due to patient volume and need for coverage, but will not increase the rate of pay for services.
