RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Director of Health to execute a Student Internship Placement Agreement between the Monterey County Health Department ("MCHD") and San Francisco State University for students obtaining practical clinical experience within a clinical facility setting at MCHD including but not limited to nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, biomedical laboratory science, communicative disorders, phlebotomy and social work for Fiscal Year 2015-2016.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
MCHD requests the Board of Supervisors to approve a Student Internship Placement Agreement for students enrolled at San Francisco State University ("University") requiring clinical experience for their certification program including but not limited to nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, biomedical laboratory science, communicative disorders, phlebotomy and social work for Fiscal Year 2015-2016.
The proposed Agreement outlines the duties and responsibilities of each party and an Exhibit to ensure student adherence to both University and MCHD clinical facility policies and procedures for enrollment in the internship program. It also includes County of Monterey approved insurance requirements and a mutual indemnification per the County of Monterey standard requirements.
