Title
Adopt a Resolution authorizing the Office of Emergency Services to submit an application in the amount of $213,252 and designating County staff positions to authorize and execute documents and applications for the purpose of obtaining financial assistance with the California Office of Emergency Services Fiscal Year 2016 Emergency Management Performance Grant Program.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt a Resolution authorizing the Office of Emergency Services to submit an application in the amount of $213,252 and designating County staff positions to authorize and execute documents and applications for the purpose of obtaining financial assistance with the California Office of Emergency Services Fiscal Year 2016 Emergency Management Performance Grant Program.

SUMMARY:
The requested action designates the Auditor-Controller, Emergency Services Manager and Emergency Services Planner as the Monterey County representatives. These designees are required for participation within the California Office of Emergency Services Fiscal Year 2016 Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) Program, to have the authority to execute and process all such EMPG documents on behalf of the County for the period July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017.


DISCUSSION:
The Monterey County Office of Emergency Services has an opportunity to submit an application to the Federal Emergency Management Agency through the California Office of Emergency Services for the County of Monterey to participate in the 2016 federally funded program aimed at providing assistance to local government emergency management programs such as supporting activities for administrative tasks necessary to maintain the operational area and emergency management responsibilities of a routine nature and specific activities.
