a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign an agreement with Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley for $288,853 to provide home-delivered meals to seniors in Salinas, and North and South Monterey County regions for the period July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017; and
b. Authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign up to three (3) amendments to the agreement, where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($28,885) of the original contract amount, and do not significantly change the scope of work.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign an agreement with Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley for $288,853 to provide home-delivered meals to seniors in Salinas, and North and South Monterey County regions for the period July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017; and

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley (MOW,SV) improves the health and well-being of seniors who can't shop or cook for themselves by delivering nutritious meals to their homes Monday through Friday. Nutrition and independent living go hand in hand. This agreement provides home-delivered meals to seniors living in Salinas, and in North and South Monterey County. It is anticipated that 40,000 home-delivered meals will be served in the Salinas area and 20,000 meals will be served in the North County and South County regions.
