RECOMMENDATION:
Receive update from and provide direction to the Administrative Office on plans for visitor access during construction of the Jail Housing Addition Project No. 8819 and status report of contract for independent review of the jail operational and staffing plan.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION
On April 11, 2017, your Board received a presentation from the Sheriff's Office on the operational and staffing plan for the Jail Housing Addition, Project No. 8819. During that meeting, your Board requested that the Administrative Office retain independent resources to evaluate options to facilitate visitor access during the construction phase of the jail addition project, as well as contract for an independent review of the operational and staffing plan for the project. This report and attached documents provide a status report on those tasks.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT
The Resource Management Agency and the Sheriff's Office have contributed information for this update.
FINANCING
There is no impact to the General Fund resulting from receipt of this update.

This recommendation supports the Board of Supervisors Strategic Initiatives in Public Safety by providing services in support of the Sheriff's Office and Jail.
