RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Director of Health or Assistant Director of Health to execute a one-year Amendment No. 1 to Mental Health Services Agreement A-13251 with Lakemary Center for a revised term of February 1, 2016 through June 30, 2018, and adding $262,800 for FY 2017-18 for a revised amount not to exceed $624,000.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Founded in 1969, Lakemary Center in Paola, Kansas is a 65-bed Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF), licensed by the State of Kansas to provide educational and psychiatric treatment for children aged 6-21 years with dual diagnoses of intellectual and /or developmental disabilities and psychiatric disorders, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Lakemary Center provides tailored services for children with deficits in a variety of adaptive functioning areas, including communication, self-care, functional academics, social skills, leisure skills, and community use skills. Behavioral presentations addressed include high levels of aggression, self-injury, elopement, property destruction, and other high-risk behaviors. Lakemary Center was the only facility found nationally that would agree to take this high-risk youth.

This Amendment No. 1 extends the Agreement for an additional fiscal year to continue psychiatric and residential service provision to the current placement at this facility in need of this level of specialized care.
