RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a) Consider approval of the Revised Response to Recommendations R-1, R-2 and R-3 to the 2016 - 2017 Monterey County Civil Grand Jury Interim Final Report: "Jail Crisis: Our De Facto Mental Health Facility"; and
b) Direct the CAO to make any changes and file with the Presiding Judge and the Grand Jury by December 20, 2017.

SUMMARY:
The 2016 - 2017 Monterey County Civil Grand Jury Interim Final Report: "Jail Crisis: Our De Facto Mental Health Facility" was issued on June 7, 2017. By law, the Board of Supervisors and elected County officials are required to respond to specific findings and recommendations as directed therein. Within 90 days of report issuance, on or before September 7, 2017, the Board's response must be filed with the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court, County of Monterey. The Board responded by the original date of reporting back to the Presiding Judge. The Grand Jury requested a more detailed response from the Board of Supervisors to these three items.

The County Administrative Office coordinated preparation of the recommended response to the 2016 - 2017 Monterey County Civil Grand Jury Final Report: "Jail Crisis: Our De Facto Mental Health Facility" on behalf of the Board of Supervisors.
