It is recommended that the Parks Commissions:
Receive a report on the process for the formation and selection of the new Toro Park Trails Task Force.
SUMMARY:
At the April 5, 2018 Parks Commission approved the Resource Management Agency's (RMA) recommendation to re-establish the Toro Park trails working group as a task force to address ongoing trail issues at Toro Park, including representatives from Big Sur Land Trust and the Office of Supervisor Mary Adams, District 5. On June 19, 2018, the RMA selected seven (7) community members to serve on the task force, including a local biologist and an ecologist.
DISCUSSION:
The RMA received 21 interested applicants for consideration to serve on the task force (Attachment A) in response to a letter sent to the former working group (Attachment B) and a press release posted on the RMA website and social media outlets (Attachment C). The RMA Parks Planning Manager, RMA Parks Administrative Operations Manager and District 4 Parks Commissioner met on May 31, 2018 to confirm the selection criteria (Attachment D) to review all applicant materials. The selection group met again on June 14, 2018 to review the final assessments for final selection. The following table is the list of all task force members and their affiliations:
