RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended the Board of Supervisors:
Authorize the Deputy Purchasing Agent for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) or his designee to execute amendment No. 3 to the agreement (A-12753) with RBB Architects Inc. for architectural services for the Radiology Modernization Project at NMC pursuant to the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) # 9600-54, extending the agreement a fourteen (14) month period (July 1, 2019 through August 31, 2020) for a revised full agreement term of September 23, 2014 through August 31, 2020, with no change to the original scope of work or total agreement amount.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
NMC is in the construction stage of modernizing the Radiology Department on the first floor of Building 500. The Radiology Department is adding two new Computerized Tomography (CT) scanners, a new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) as well as creating an Angiography hybrid suite for Interventional Radiology (IR).
On September 30, 2014, the Board of Supervisors (Board) approved the agreement (A-12753) with RBB Architects Inc. to provide Architectural services for the Radiology Modernization project per RFQ #9600-54 at NMC in the amount of $862,450. On February 23, 2016, the Board approved Amendment No. 1 in the amount of $354,900 to add various services and to produce a comprehensive set of construction documents for the Office of Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) plan review. On July 1, 2016, the Board approved Amendment No. 2 in the amount of $1,307,000 which extended the term of the agreement for an additional two (2) year period through June 30, 2019 and added various services including the nurse call system, the Radiology chiller system, bidding and pre-construction assistance, and construction administration for a total Agreement amount of $2,524,350.
This Amendment No. 3 will extend the term of the agreement for an additional fourteen (14) month period through August 31, 2020 with no change to the original scope of work, or the total agreement amount so that the Radiology Modernization Project can be completed.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
County Counsel has reviewed and approved this amendment No. 3 as to legal form, and the Auditor-Controller has reviewed and approved as to payment provisions. The amendment No. 3 has also been reviewed and approved by NMC’s Finance Committee on February 28, 2019 and by its Board of Trustees on March 19, 2019.
FINANCING:
There are no costs associated with this Amendment No. 3.
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:
This amendment will extend the term of the current RBB Architect’s agreement, thus allowing for the completion of the Radiology Modernization project.
