a. Approve and authorize the Chief Probation Officer to sign an Agreement with the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP) Tyler Heart Institute to provide ongoing review, compliance assistance, maintenance and oversight services under the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Program at no cost to the County; and
b. Accept non-standard indemnification provisions as recommended by the Chief Probation Officer.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Chief Probation Officer to sign an Agreement with the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP) Tyler Heart Institute to provide ongoing review, compliance assistance, maintenance and oversight services under the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Program at no cost to the County; and
b. Accept non-standard indemnification provisions as recommended by the Chief Probation Officer.
SUMMARY:
The Probation Department is recommending approval of an Agreement with the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP) Tyler Heart Institute to provide ongoing program review, compliance assistance, and maintenance and oversight services for four (4) Automated External Defibrillators (AED) to be purchased for use in Probation facilities under the AED Program. These services are at no cost to the County.
DISCUSSION:
The Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP) Tyler Heart Institute provides a full range of cardiac service, including management of community-based AED programs.
Since 2016, they have provided this valuable service to the County of Monterey for the AEDs located at the Government Center, at Schilling Place, and at the Department of Social Services. The Probation Department is looking to purchase four (4) AEDs that would also be enrolled under the Tyler Health Institute AED Program.
