RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Adopt Plans and Special Provisions for the Nacimiento Lake Drive Bridge, Project No. 2202; and
b. Authorize the Resource Management Agency Director to advertise the "Notice to Bidders" in the Monterey County Weekly and El Sol De Salinas.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Nacimiento Lake Drive Bridge Replacement Project (Project), County Bridge No. 449 will construct a new bridge on Nacimiento Lake Drive over the San Antonio River to replace the existing bridge. The project is located southwest of the community of Bradley, in southern Monterey County.

The existing bridge has one (1) lane and was determined to be seismically deficient and is programmed to be replaced under the State Seismic Retrofit Program. The new bridge will be a two (2) lane concrete box girder bridge located downstream and adjacent to the existing bridge. The new bridge will also improve the alignment of the approach roadways. The existing truss bridge will be removed after the new bridge has been constructed.

The project is located southwest of the community of Bradley, in southern Monterey County and is a major route to the recreational areas at San Antonio Lake and Nacimiento Lake.

In compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the Monterey County Resource Management Agency (RMA) filed a Final Environmental Impact Report (EIR) on December 1, 2016. Caltrans, as the designated lead for the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), determined that the Project is categorically excluded from having to prepare an Environmental Assessment (EA) or an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
