RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Receive a presentation from the Monterey County Health Department, Planning, Evaluation, and Policy Unit on DataShare Monterey County (http://www.datasharemontereycounty.org/).

SUMMARY:
Monterey County Health Department, in partnership with Conduent Healthy Communities Institute, Inc., has made available to county staff, community-based organizations, partners, and county residents a very cost-effective resource in a one-stop data dashboard. DataShare Monterey County (http://www.datasharemontereycounty.org/) supports the goals of shared data measurement tracking and evaluating indicators visualizing county trends and comparisons, and working together to reduce health and social inequities. It will help us to collectively focus energies and highlight efforts already underway.

DISCUSSION:
Monterey County Health Department (MCHD) works with many partners to provide up-to-date data created from a variety of secondary state and federal data sources such as the U. S. Census Bureau, the California Health Interview Survey, and Kidsdata.org. DataShare Monterey County consolidates these and dozens of other data sources to create one resource focusing on Monterey County.

In partnership with Conduent Healthy Communities Institute (HCI), MCHD has provided a single location to query over 270 indicators of demographics, health, education, safety and prevention, early childhood development, and more. Data are available in charts and graphs, and customized dashboards (such as Disparities and Community Health Assessment) are readily available.
